The Greenheart Shop (746 N. LaSalle) is accepting reservations for a free workshop this Thursday night on making natural body products from everyday household products. Soap maker Eleanor Riley will demonstrate how to make facial masks, foot scrubs, salt scrubs, hair spray, and more. Fair trade wine and snacks will be provided. The workshop runs from 6 to 8 PM, and there are spots for about 20 people. RSVP at info@greenheartshop.org or call 312-264-1625.

Description:

Paddlers begin the 7.25 mile course at Clark Park (3400 N. Rockwell) and paddle south the finish at Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown (300 W. 19th St.). Along the way, participants enjoy all of the visual splendor that the Chicago River has to offer, including the wooded riverbanks of the north side neighborhoods, industrial corridor surrounding Goose Island, and awe-inspiring vista of downtown as seen by the river.

12th Annual Ultimate Drive for Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Illinois residents will be able to help the fight against breast cancer when the 12th Annual Ultimate Drive for Susan G. Komen for the Cure comes to Bill Jacobs BMW from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.  Hundreds of local supporters can drive an eye-catching BMW of their choice and raise $1 for every mile they drive for the cause.

The Ultimate Drive is a grassroots fundraising program that donates over $1 million each year.  25 specially-badged BMWs, decorated with pink ribbons, will be traveling across the country from February through December, stopping at more than 210 BMW Retail Centers along the way.  At the end of this year’s drive, more than $12 million will be donated to the cause.  The money raised directly supports breast cancer research, education, screening and community outreach programs provided by Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
